Paul Berwyn

Singer/Songwriter, family man. Proud son of North Wales, UK, now residing in Northamptonshire, UK. Born Sptember 1960 in Caerwys.

Began life as a piano pupil back in the 1960's and was put off playing music until the late 1980's as a result. All that classical stuff and rapped knuckles !

Picked up a bass guitar at Back Alley Music in Mold, North Wales and began lessons above the shop with one Loz Madigan (most famous pupil - Jonny Buckland of Coldplay). Made steady progress, linking up with various other local 'musicians' and began the tortuous but rewarding path of gigging band member.

As bass playing improved, fingers got calloussed by those thick strings, strength increased hauling amplifier and solid guitar around and fragile self confidence was boosted by applause. Firm friendships were made and the band moved rehearsals to Chester (over the English border) and then to Bromborough to further our musical ambitions and Scouse accents whilst holding down day jobs.

After a number of false starts, 'Jude', finally crashed and burned. The drummer, Colin, ran off with the female singer Jacqui (they are now married with two kids at the last count) and frankly I was fed up of trying to be a success and relying on others to feel the same.

The world of a solo bass player is a lonely one. I had decided to broaden my musical horizons in the mid 1990's. I went to Back Alley Music again, and purchased a Seagull S6 acoustic guitar (used to record some of the current CD), looked up Madigan and enrolled in 'proper' guitar lessons. Such was the progress that I accompanied a local female singer, Kathy Barlow at the Millennium Celebrations in Caerwys, my home town. Sky TV covered the event, but no footage has ever been seen. Unfortunately, our video man left the pause button on his camera, so our moment was lost forever ! Bugger.

Singing and playing guitar became a natural progression a while later and continues to progress !
